How is the Mane ‘N Tail-sponsored ‘New York Empire’ team faring in the Longines Global Champions League?

June 10th, 2019

Leading equestrian grooming range, Mane ‘N Tail, is sponsoring the prestigious ‘New York Empire’ team, for the 2019 Longines Global Champions League season.

The final of GCL Cannes kicked off recently, and New York Empire were still top four at the start, fighting for the top spot with Madrid In Motion, London Knights and Hamburg Giants.

However, in a competition full of drama and intrigue, the New York Empire duo of Denis Lynch and Hans-Dieter Dreher were unable to convert their third pole position into a win, after a double refusal from Lynch and his mount van de Vivaldi sadly eliminated the team!

The pressure was really on the New York Empire team. First to go Denis Lynch carefully guided van de Vivaldi around the course, but it fell apart after van de Vivaldi came off the bit to the Air Mauritius oxer, forcing Lynch to circle.

Another fallen fence added to their woes, before van de Vivaldi refused at the Longines plank – the second refusal, causing the team to be eliminated.

It was another shock result for the team.

This was a role reversal after May’s superb result in Hamburg, when the New York Empire team put star strikers from Doha, Scott Brash and Hans-Dieter Dreher, up front together.

The combination worked well to deliver a silver podium finish with Scott on Hello Senator and Hans-Dieter with Embassy II.

However it is early days, and next up is GCL Stockholm at the City’s historic Olympic Stadium, from June 14th to 16th 2019.

Good luck ‘New York Empire’!
